For individuals facing life's challenges and seeking change. Our services at Lis Mental Care are designed to provide the support and guidance necessary to facilitate personal growth and positive transformation.

Our expertise particularly focuses on mental healthcare for children and young adults.

We specialise in addressing a wide range of mental health problems, including but not limited to:

Anxiety: Anxiety refers to a common mental health condition characterised by excessive worry, fear or unease that can significantly impact a person's daily life. It's important to understand that experiencing some level of anxiety is a normal and adaptive response to stress or challenging situations. However, when this anxiety becomes persistent, overwhelming or interferes with a person's ability to function effectively, it is important to get help.

Eating disorders: Eating disorders represent complicated and often misapprehended conditions with underlying complexities that necessitate a comprehensive understanding. Beyond the overt manifestations of an eating disorder, there exists deeper emotional and psychological factors that contribute to their emergence and persistence.

  • A fundamental aspect of the recovery process involves delving into the purpose an eating disorder serves in an individual's life. This entails an exploration of the functions it fulfils, which may encompass avoidance of distressing emotions or seeking a semblance of control. Identifying and addressing these underlying motivations is pivotal in the journey toward recovery.
  • It is of utmost significance to emphasise that full recovery from eating disorders is an achievable objective. With the appropriate guidance, support, and therapeutic interventions, individuals can reclaim their lives and regain a harmonious relationship with food.  Ultimately flourish in a state of physical and emotional well-being.

Stress:
refers to the emotional, physiological and cognitive response to challenging, overwhelming situations and demands. Young adulthood is a period marked by significant transitions, responsibilities and pressures, and stress can manifest in various ways.

Perfectionism: Perfectionism in young adults is a personality trait or behaviour characterised by an unrelenting pursuit of exceptionally high standards, a fear of making mistakes and a tendency to excessively self-criticize. While striving for excellence can be positive and motivational, perfectionism can become problematic when it reaches extreme levels and interferes with a person's well-being and ability to function effectively.

Negative (depressive thoughts): Negative or depressive thoughts in young adults can be indicative of underlying mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety. These thoughts often involve a persistent and pessimistic focus on one's own shortcomings, failures and a negative outlook on the future.

Low self-esteem: refers to a negative self-image and a lack of self-worth, which can have a profound impact on various aspects of their lives. It is a common issue, often associated with feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt and a negative self-perception.

Chronic pain: experiencing chronic pain, whether diagnosed or not, can exert a profound and far-reaching influence on various dimensions of one's life. It often disrupts daily routines, relationships and overall well-being. An essential aspect of coping with chronic pain involves cultivating pain acceptance, focusing on ways to lead a fulfilling and contented life while coexisting with this condition.

  • Central to this journey is the exploration of strategies to achieve happiness and satisfaction, notwithstanding the persistent presence of chronic pain. This entails the redirection of personal goals and ambitions within the framework of one's pain experience, without relinquishing one's dreams and aspirations.
  • In the face of chronic pain, resilience and adaptation become vital tools in seeking a balanced and meaningful life. It is possible to navigate the challenges that chronic pain presents, leveraging them as a catalyst for personal growth and renewed purpose.
