About Lisette
30 years old - from The Netherlands - Master Of Science Clinical Psychology -
Coach - University Psychology Instructor
Background
I was born in the Netherlands to my parents and two brothers. Six years ago, I made the decision to move to Spain, where my journey led me to volunteer with dogs. It was during this time in Spain that I crossed paths with my current fiancé, an encounter that ultimately led me to stay in Spain.
Throughout my life, like every human being, I have faced my share of challenges, including mental health issues that I encountered from a young age. I was able to overcome these challenges through a combination of therapy and the invaluable support of a strong support network. These personal experiences, coupled with my innate desire to understand and empathise with others, ignited a passionate commitment within me to assist and advocate for those dealing with mental health concerns.
Furthermore, I firmly believe that, particularly in light of the growing prevalence of mental health issues among young people, it is imperative to provide dedicated care for mental well-being during this stage of life.
My life's journey and experiences have not only shaped my commitment to mental health but it has also made me determined to foster a more open and supportive dialogue about mental health issues.
Studies
- Business & economics - University of Amsterdam
- Bachelor of Science: Psychology - Open University, Amsterdam
- Master of Science: Clinical Psychology - Open University, Amsterdam
Experience
I have gained familiarity with therapeutic approaches, including cognitive-behavior therapy and client-centered therapy. Additionally, I have experience with psychological assessment. During my most recent professional engagement, my primary focus was on children within a school environment and it was during this period that I had discovered my genuine interest and connection with this particular age group.
In addition to the experiences mentioned earlier, an integral aspect of Lis Mental Care involves the potential utilisation of personal experiences, when deemed appropriate, to provide support. This approach promotes an open and honest dialogue with the objective of reducing stigma and fostering relationships grounded in trust.
Finally, I have acquired valuable experience in the field of research, focusing on a range of areas including:
- Burn-out, pro-active behaviour, and personality traits.
- Depression care and the assessment of quality of life/depression in elderly.
- Chronic pain, self-discrepancy and the impact of loneliness.
These research have enriched my knowledge and expertise in addressing these complex and significant issues.
